                         Digital India has been launched with an aim to impart knowledge to people and to empower themselves through digital India program of Government of India.
Government aim is to achieve the vision of digital India, Where every Indian digitally empowered and all kind of information is digitally available                                                                                                                          
                        Digital India program was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 1st July 2015.   Digital India is a program to prepare India for knowledge future.
                          Digital India is an ambitious program of government of India.
                      
                          


A program to transform India into digital empowered society and knowledge economy.                                                                                                          “Power to empower”

                             This will be for preparing the India for the knowledge based transformation and delivering good governance to citizens and coordinated engagement with “Central Government” and “State Government”.       
                              In Digital India program Government focusing on three key points. These three key point include
ü      Delivery of services digitally
ü      The creation of digital infrastructure
ü      Digital literacy



  
     1.  Vision of Digital India
 
The digital India vision provides strengthen momentum for further progress for e-Governance would inclusive growth that covers electronic services, products, devices, manufacturing and job opportunities.

Digital Infrastructure will focus on providing “high speed” and “secure” internet.

·         Mobile and Bank account would enable participation in digital and financial space at individual level.

4.   9 Pillars of Digital India

    1.      Broadband Highways                                                                                                                  
              
                

                2, 50,000 village panchayats would be covered under the National Optical Fiber. Department of telecommunications is the dominant department of this project.
                
                 National Information Infrastructure (NII) integrate the network and cloud infrastructure in the country to provide “high speed connectivity” and “cloud platform” to various government departments up to the panchayat level.
               
                  These infrastructure component include network such as State Wise Area Network (SWAN), National Knowledge network (NKN), National Optical Fiber Network (ONFN), Government user network.



    2.      Universal access to mobile connectivity                                                                                     










            The initiative focus on network penetration and filling the gap in connectivity in the country.

             There are more than 55,000 villages in the country that do not have mobile coverage. As a     part of comprehensive development plan for North east, providing mobile coverage to uncovered villages has been initiated.

       Mobile coverage to remaining uncovered villages would be provided in phase manner.

    3.      Public Internet Access programme                                                                                             


There are two component of Public Internet Access Programme
·         Common service center (CSCs)
   
 To expand the coverage of common services center from 1.35 lakhs to 2.5 lakhs i.e. one CSC in each panchayat.
   CSCs would be made viable and multi-functional end point of delivery of government business services.

·         Post office as  multi service center

A total of 1, 50,000 Post offices are proposed to be converted into multi service centers. This is a long term vision for POs.

    4.      E-Governance –Reforming government through technology                                                   
                        







            

               Business process Re-engineering will be undertaken to improve processes and service delivery.

                There are some guideline principles for reforming government through technology, which shown below.

  ü  Form simplification, online application and tracking, interface between departments.
  ü  Use of online repositories e.g. schools certificates, educational degree, voter ID, any identity document etc.
  ü  Integration of UIDAI, payment gateway, mobile platform etc.
  ü  All Database and information to be electronic not manual.
  ü  Workflow automation inside government.

E- Kranti concentrates on electronic delivery of services like,

  ü  Technology for education – e-education.
  ü  Technology for Health – e-Healthcare.
  ü  Technology for planning.
  ü  Technology for Farmer – e-agriculture.
  ü  Technology for security.
  ü  Technology for Financial Inclusion. 
  ü  Technology for Justice & Security.
      
    6.      Information for All                                                                                                                  

  ü  Online Hosting of Information and documents.
  ü  Government pro-actively engages through social media and web based platforms to inform citizens.
  ü  Online massaging to citizens on special occasions or programs.
                  
     7.      Electronic Manufacturing                                                                                                        









The pillar focuses on promoting electronic manufacturing in the country with the target of NET ZERO import by 2020.
The Ambitious goal requires coordinated action on so many fronts. Such as

  ü  Taxation, incentives
  ü  Elimination of cost disadvantage, Economic of scale. 
  ü  Skill development, government procurement.
  ü  Safety standard.
  ü  National Award, Marketing, Brand building.
  ü  R & D in Electronics.
  
    8.      IT Training for Jobs                                                                                                        

Government is planning to train core students from small towns and villages for IT sector.

This pillar focuses on providing training to the youth in the skill required for availing employment opportunities in the IT sector.

    9.      Early Harvest programmes                                                                                           

Government is planning to deploy Aadhar Enabled biometric Attendance system in all central government offices located at Delhi.
